Field Service Engineer
Job Summary
As a Field Service Engineer you will ensure that STEMCELL research instruments are properly tested assembled and maintained at the highest possible standard. You will also be required to travel domestically and internationally to independently troubleshoot and service various STEMCELL research instruments across different sites in Europe. By supporting and providing our teams with technical support you will help us advance scientific research and our mission of scientists helping scientists.
Please note this is a hybrid field role. When you are not traveling for customer support you will be expected to work onsite from our Cologne office. International travel to nearby regions such as the UK and Switzerland is also expected.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide on-site and/or in-house servicing repair and installation of instruments and their components
Propose solutions to instrument issues and service problems from low to moderate complexity
Provide technical support to customers via telephone email and on-site service for operational or maintenance aspects of instruments to minimize customer downtime
Develop broad knowledge of STEMCELL instruments including remote diagnostic ability troubleshooting and repairs of mechanical hardware software-related failures to maintain our instruments
Support the development and use of service and assembly procedures and train new staff as required while also assisting with continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing
Manage your workday and schedule customer visits assisting with spare parts inventory management work scheduling and budgeting
Knowledge and Qualifications:
Technician with vocational degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering B. Eng. or equivalent M. Eng or equivalent in electrical and/or mechanical engineering. Graduates Technicians or Engineers are welcome to apply
Ideally first experiences with robotics vision systems liquid handling automation machine controls and software systems
Excellent communication skills in English and German (verbal written and presentation); additional languages (eg French) is an asset

Excellent customer facing skills with a proven track record of maintaining customer satisfaction and instrument performance
Valid Category B (car) driving license is required for domestic and regional travel
Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally on short notice including to non-EU countries such as the UK and Switzerland(valid passport and eligibility to obtain necessary travel documents/visas for short-term international business travel)

The annual salary for this job ranges from:
53500.00 - 72300.00STEMCELL determines an individuals pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience education job-related skills and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company addition to base salary STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package that may include health benefits retirement savings and more (depending on region).
