Job Summary

We are looking for an ETRM Software Engineer to join our team in Hamburg and help us build technology that supports the future of energy trading.

As a Software Engineer you will design build and evolve software products that support and enhance our energy trading landscape. You will work on business-critical applications used throughout the organisation helping to solve technical challenges and delivering reliable solutions that make a tangible difference to daily operations.

Based in our modern HafenCity office you will be part of an international and collaborative team of engineers analysts and business experts. You will have the opportunity to contribute your ideas learn from colleagues across different disciplines and grow your expertise both technically and within the energy sector.

Your responsibilities

  • Design develop and maintain Java-based applications and services supporting trading operational and risk-related processes.
  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis and solution design through implementation testing deployment and ongoing support.
  • Apply modern software engineering practices and technologies including cloud platforms APIs automation CI/CD pipelines and data-driven applications.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical colleagues to understand challenges explore solutions and deliver reliable scalable and maintainable software.
  • Work in a highly skilled engineering environment that values ownership innovation knowledge sharing collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Deepen your technical expertise while gaining valuable insight into European energy markets and the systems that support them.
  • Contribute directly to technology solutions that help enable a sustainable and reliable energy future.

Qualifications :

What You Bring

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in software development ideally working with Java and the Spring ecosystem to build and maintain business-critical applications.
  • A completed degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field or equivalent practical experience gained through professional software development.
  • A good understanding of software engineering principles including object-oriented design APIs application integration and modern development practices.
  • Experience contributing to the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis development testing deployment and support within a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with modern development tools and technologies such as CI/CD pipelines cloud platforms container technologies and relational databases.
  • Experience with TypeScript and frontend technologies such as Angular is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills a collaborative mindset and an interest in learning new technologies and business domains.
  • Good communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in an international and cross-functional environment.

You do not need to meet every single requirement to be successful in this role. If you have a strong foundation in software engineering a few years of experience enjoy solving complex problems and are motivated to learn about energy trading we would be happy to hear from you.
