Amazons data centers house the infrastructure that powers the worlds largest cloud. Protecting them is mission-critical and as a Security Specialist Intern at Amazon Web Services (AWS) you will help ensure the physical security of these facilities from the inside.

About the Role

As a Security Specialist Intern you will work within the Data Center Security team and play a hands-on role in the day-to-day physical security operations of Amazons data centers. You will collaborate with security vendors analyze operational data and help identify improvements to surveillance systems access controls and security procedures.

This is not a desk-only role. You will engage directly with the people systems and processes that keep Amazons most critical infrastructure safe.

What You Will Do
- Coordinate with vendors involved in new security construction repairs daily security operations and patrols and planning.
- Analyze security metrics and data to identify trends and recommend improvements
- Make suggestions on improving electronic surveillance systems and access controls
- Help develop and deliver guidance to data center occupants on reducing false alarms
- Write reports and create presentations on the status of physical security operations for management
- Assist with planning and coordinating security-related projects
- Support incident documentation and follow-up processes

Internship Structure

Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours per week) for 12 consecutive weeks. This position requires the intern to report to work on site daily. Intern schedules are typically day schedules. Intern schedules are typically day schedules Monday through Friday.

About the team
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We are the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You will join a diverse team of engineers supply chain specialists security experts operations managers and other vital roles. You will collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

- In pursuit of a Bachelors degree or equivalent in Risk Management Security Management Criminology or a related field graduating in 2027
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment with strong time management skills
- Own vehicle is recommended as reliable transportation to the data center facility (note: public transit option is not available)
