Medical Technologist

We have an opportunity for a full-time Med Tech. Day shift working 4 - 10 hour days 0700-1730GENERAL OBJECTIVES:Receives or collects specimens for testing.Performs chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic and other medical laboratory tests and examinations.Operates manual and automated lab equipment for analysis of specimens.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Accurately identifies tests ordered for any special requirements or supplies. Accurately identifies all patients prior to the drawing of the specimen. Performs phlebotomies, capillary sticks, timed draws, and stats according to laboratory policy and procedure. Follows policy and protocol for filling out all requisitions and labeling all specimens. Performs chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic and other medical laboratory tests and examinations. Detects potential discrepancies or error in test resulting. Operates manual and automated lab equipment for analysis of specimens. Maintains equipment and appropriate documentation in order to control the quality of test results. Assists the department with sending, monitoring, documenting and reporting consultations. Follows through on unusual send outs and special billing needs.

Takes complete message and forwards to responsible party. Alerts staff of stat, ASAP, trauma alert and frozen section orders. Applies the concepts of the departmental Code of Conduct. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist program. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
