Turing is looking for a remote Lead Software Engineer on behalf of a rapidly-growing company developing cutting-edge technology used by developers to create applications that increase asset productivity, track commerce, and delight customers. The developer will lead the engineering team to build the company’s location and mapping cloud systems. The company has raised funds worth more than $8.3 mn and unlocks untapped business application potentials by making live locations of physical devices available in the cloud. This will be a long-term role requiring an overlap of 4+ hours with the PST time zone.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate real-time contextual data streams from devices and generate application-aware ground truth
- Develop and implement algorithms and heuristics to infer accurate locations and other application enrichments
- Enhance routes for static, dynamic, and flexible fulfillment, focusing on availability, capacity, slots, and live location
- Leverage ML and feedback loops to boost location, mapping features and improve accuracy
- Actively communicate with users to identify and deliver quality products and solutions to challenging problems
- Conclude on various decisions such as when to build, buy, rent, and reuse based on the context and priorities at hand
Job Requirements:
- BS or MS in engineering, preferably CS, EE, Math or Physics (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of software development experience
- Extensive experience with Data Science, Python, APIs, Algorithms, and Data Structures
- Track record of building effective production systems at scale, APIs, ML, web applications, analytics
- Nice to have some prior experience with Logistics, Mapping, Geospatial, and Cloud engineering
- Proven skill in algorithms and data structures, first principles problem solving, math and numbers, open-ended problems, and lateral thinking
- Prior experience with location and mapping technologies, geospatial services and data sets, device-to-cloud technologies, and real-time systems - Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Fluent in English with great collaboration skills
