As we grow so does the amount of customer trust were responsible for and thats where you come in. Were looking for a Senior Security & Compliance Engineer to take ownership of how Factbird protects its systems its data and its customers trust.
About the Role
This is a hands-on senior role: youll need the technical depth to dig into our infrastructure yourself plus the judgment and communication skills to drive change across the company. You wont be handed a fully built program youll help build it which means proactively auditing what we have today figuring out what matters most and making the case for what to improve first.
This is a senior position in Factbirds engineering team. Youll be trusted to make architecture and process calls mentor others and represent security in rooms where the details matter connecting technical decisions to customer trust and business risk not just closing tickets.
Youll do well here if you take a pragmatic risk-based approach and if youre as comfortable influencing people who dont report to you as you are digging through logs yourself.
What youll do
Security posture & audits
- Assess our current security and compliance posture spot the gaps and recommend improvements grounded in what will actually move the needle
- Own our technical security audits end to end running them turning findings into a prioritised realistic plan and helping us get (and maintain) the certifications and controls that matter to our customers
- Design and implement security controls and processes across our cloud infrastructure applications and development practices including running security risk and penetration tests on a regular cadence
- Take a pragmatic risk-based approach to it all were not a bank and our controls shouldnt pretend we are
Influence & partnership
- Author proposals and technical specs for security initiatives and drive them to a decision
- Mentor engineers on secure coding and security-minded design youll be the go-to person for the team
- Partner with engineering leadership on architecture decisions that touch security or compliance
- Represent security in cross-functional conversations with Product Customer Success and Sales when customers ask us hard questions and they will
About you
Were looking for someone with the technical depth to dig into our AWS environment and codebase themselves and the pragmatism to know the difference between whats technically ideal and whats right for a company our size. Youve ideally worked in small companies before and know what its like to build a security program from a standing start without a dedicated team behind you.
The ideal background
- At least five years experience since graduating from a relevant Masters program
- Solid technical experience in security engineering with the ability to dig into our AWS environment Rust-built codebase and processes yourself not just point at them
- Working familiarity with frameworks like SOC 2 GDPR and similar and what it actually takes to operationalise them not just the checklist
- A track record of running or contributing meaningfully to technical audits
- The communication skills to influence people who dont report to you you can make the case for a change and bring people along with it. And you can do this with strong English fluency.
We welcome applicants from people eager to move to Denmark so long as you already have the legal right to live and work here. We can contribute to relocation costs for the right candidate.
