About the role

Based at our headquarters in the heart of Copenhagen youll contribute to the technologies that power one of the worlds largest container fleets and support the future of safe efficient and sustainable shipping.

As our nextSenior Marine Electrical Engineer youll play a key role in delivering major vessel projects across Maersks global fleet includingnewbuildings retrofits upgrades and technology development initiatives. Acting as a technical authority within your area of expertise youll help ensure solutions are delivered safely compliantly and in line with Maersk standards while driving innovation and continuous improvement across vessel design and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the electrical and automation scope for assigned projects from concept development and specification through design implementation and handover.

  • Develop and maintain technical specifications standards and internal requirements.

  • Lead design reviews plan approval activities and technical clarifications with shipyards suppliers engineering partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Review and approve electrical system designs load balance calculations protection concepts automation systems and equipment selections.

  • Coordinate with Classification Societies and Flag Administrations to secure approvals and compliance.

  • Support project execution through inspectionsFATs commissioning sea trials and operational follow-up as relevant.

  • Resolve technical issues and drive decisions to maintain schedule quality performance and cost targets.

  • Capture lessons learned andensurecontinuous improvement across projectsand vessel classes.

  • Support evaluation development and implementation of new technologies related to electrification automation digitalisation energy management and decarbonisation.

  • Contribute to future vessel concepts and fleet development by identifying opportunities challenging established solutions and bringing new ideas into vessel design and operation

What Were Looking For

We expect our next team member to bring a strong technical foundation combined with the confidence to challenge shipyards suppliers and designers while maintaining constructive relationships and project momentum. A combination of sound engineering judgement commercial awareness and a structured approach to problem solving will be key to navigating complex technical challenges. An understanding of the full vessel lifecycle enables balanced decision-making across safety performance operability maintainability and cost considerations. The role also requires strong collaboration skills and the ability to build alignment across diverse stakeholders through clear communication and a pragmatic approach to delivery.

You will also bring:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering Marine Engineering or a similar discipline.

  • Significant experience from shipbuilding ship management marine engineering or technical fleet support.

  • Strong knowledge of marine power generation and distribution automation navigation communication and safety systems.

  • Experience with design review plan approvalFATs commissioning sea trials and/or retrofit implementation.

  • The ability to manage suppliers contractors and engineering partners.

  • Willingness to travel internationally typically 20-40 days per year.
