Job Summary
Are you passionate about sustainable energy solutions and looking for an opportunity to kick-start your career in electrochemical energy storage At DTU Nanolab we are offering a 12-month research assistant position as part of the 3D VOLT project where we are developing biomass-derived supercapacitors for IoT applications.
We are currently in the pre-startup phase funded by ERC POC and a Novo Nordisk Foundation Pioneer Innovator Grant working on translating our patented technology from laboratory-scale studies to a commercially viable encapsulated supercapacitor with thermally stable electrolytes. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic interdisciplinary research environment and contribute to the development of next-generation energy storage solutions.
Responsibilities and qualifications
As a research assistant you will:
- Fabricate carbon electrodes using our patented technology
- Support the automation process to scale up electrode fabrication
- Assist in prototyping and performance evaluation of the biomass-derived supercapacitors
As a formal qualification you must have a masters degree in engineering or should have prior hands-on experience with electrochemistry and be proficient in working in a wet chemistry lab. Furthermore strong communication skills in English are a central requirement.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation ofProfessional addition supplements can be negotiated in accordance with DTUs salary structure for scientific staff: The period of employment is 12 months. The preferred starting date is 1 October 2026. The position is a full-time employment.

DTU Nanolab is a common infrastructure and research facility located at and fully owned by the Technical University of Denmark DTU. The core facilities consist of a large cleanroom and a state-of-the-art electron microscopy center inaugurated in 2007. The research activities carried out at DTU Nanolab span from nano- and microfabrication with Silicon-based materials carbon and polymers to the highly sophisticated analysis of nanoscale materials in hard and soft matter.
