One Postdoc will be involved in the newly funded project GenAISIS leading the coordination of the projects pilot activities and focusing on developing trustworthy AI foundation models for the secure operation and planning of real transmission and distribution grids along with a PhD student who will be hired for this project.
The second Postdoc is expected to lead activities on the development of Artificial General Intelligence methods for the autonomous design and verification of power system controllers. The selected applicant will also be partially involved in the EU project ODEON where we expect them to be involved in designing the integration of Large Language Models as the orchestrator for the end-to-end execution of Digital Twin Simulations including extracting information from Energy Data Spaces.
The Division for Power and Energy Systems of DTU Wind and Energy Systems provides cutting edge research in sustainable reliable and cost-efficient energy systems to the benefit of society. The two postdocs will be involved full-time or part-time in the Horizon Europe research projects ODEON and the recently funded GenAISIS. ODEON is an international research project with 34 industrial and academic partners from over 13 European countries. Its aim is to introduce an open-source platform for federated Energy Data Spaces with the goal to interconnect Energy Data Spaces across Europe and unleash the data-driven innovation and sharing potential across diverse energy actors (e.g. consumers prosumers utilities and others). ODEON will be extensively validated in 5 demo sites in Spain Greece France Ireland and Denmark (more info here: GenAISIS is a newly-funded international research project with 36 industrial and academic partners across 16 countries. Its goal is to design implement and validate a pan-European Generative-AI-powered Energy Digital Spine i.e. a digital backbone turning todays fragmented digital energy sector into an interoperable Software-Defined Smart Grid. One of it four pillars is trustworthy AI where the DTU team is expected to contribute. It will demonstrate its developed technologies across 10 large-scale multi-country pilots of which our team at DTU will have the high-level coordination.
Responsibilities and qualifications

As a postdoc you are expected to carry out high-quality research on the intersection of machine learning control optimization and/or power system dynamics both from a theoretical/analytical point of view and in terms of coding.
We are looking for self-motivated and team-oriented people who thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working with complex topics.
A successful candidate will have a solid background in at least four of the following points:
- Power system dynamics
- Optimization (convex optimization MILP non-linear)
- Machine learning techniques statistics and probabilities
- Programming tools such as Python Julia Pytorch etc.
- Power system software such as Powerfactory PSCAD EMTP
- Excellent use of the English language
- Good ability to present results in oral presentations and prepare scientific papers for publication in international journals
As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation ofProfessional addition supplements can be negotiated in accordance with DTUs salary structure for scientific staff: period of employment is 1 year. Desired starting date is 1st of November 2026 or can be flexible according to mutual agreement. The positions are full-time positions.
