Description

A postdoc position is available at the section for Visual Computing at DTU Compute. The position is part of the HAV-INNO project a multi-disciplinary collaboration at the intersection of computer vision AI and marine biology. This project aims at developing AI-based methods to transform underwater imagery from a simple visual record into a quantitative tool to measure species abundance in Denmarks diverse maritime habitats.

Join the Visual Computing (VisCom) section at DTU Compute where your expertise in computer vision deep learning and image analysis can drive transformative advances across different fields. By joining us you stand to gain extensive support unlocking your career potential. Youll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and high-performance computing resources. We actively facilitate building your professional networks through collaborations with industry and leading research institutions. Although teaching is not a formal part of the post we offer opportunities to build your teaching portfolio and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students on projects related to your research area from deep learning to image analysis and computer vision.

The work includes:

  • Conducting cutting-edge research in deep learning areas such as object detection object counting anomaly detection self-supervised learning and/or image and video segmentation.
  • Developing AI-based methods for detecting and identifying fish in underwater video sequences that are robust to diverse lighting environment and image acquisition conditions.
  • Publishing and disseminating research results in leading international conferences and journals and contributing to collaboration and knowledge transfer among the project stakeholders.
  • Student supervision and contributing to the development of a growing research environment within the Viscom section.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A research background in deep learning and computer vision
  • Experience in developing methods for marine underwater images or similar
  • With experience at handling a high volume of data
  • Self-motivated and highly independent.
