Intern Biotechnology

Are you a Bachelors or Masters student in Denmark passionate about understanding what approaches work when designing programs to improve human health and planetary health The Biotechnology team at the Novo Nordisk Foundation is looking for a motivated intern for a full-time internship during the spring semester 2027 (up to six months). This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the evaluation and evidence base behind the Foundations work in health sustainability and life sciences while developing your skills in impact assessment data analysis and stakeholder engagement.

The Position

As our new Program Impact intern you will join a dedicated team working on a wide array of projects and partnerships. This internship is designed to be a learning experience where you will be supported in developing new skills and deepening your understanding of how to assess the efficacy and impact of projects across various domains with a focus on biotechnology agriculture and food systems.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with the Biotechnology teams Senior Scientific Manager and receive guidance throughout your internship. A core focus of this internship is looking back: reviewing the Foundations previously funded projects and partnerships to assess what worked what didnt and why and translating those lessons into recommendations for future funding decisions. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to emerging projects related to using biotechnology to improve planetary health.

Your specific tasks and responsibilities will be scoped according to your academic background capabilities and interests. However we are looking for someone who is excited to work with any or all of the following topics:

• Conducting retrospective reviews and efficacy assessments of previously funded programs across areas including Biotechnology Agriculture & Food Natural Science and Technical Science
• Developing and applying evaluation frameworks and indicators to measure the outcomes and impact of completed and ongoing projects
• Performing interviews across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to perform a 360-degree assessment of past and present programs
• Synthesizing lessons learned across the project portfolio to inform the teams work on future programs

You do not need to have experience in all areas listed above; these are examples of what you may learn about and contribute to during your time with us.

The working hours will be 37 hours a week with flexibility in relation to your other obligations as a student.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with some or all of these qualities:

• Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters programme within the fields of e.g. biotechnology biology OR interdisciplinary studies economics development studies political science behavioural science development finance monitoring and evaluation organization and management etc.
  Graduated students will not be considered.
• A general interest in biology biotechnology and biosolutions for improving planetary health
• Experience with and/or interest in programme evaluation impact assessment or evidence-based approaches to food systems health systems and policy in low- and middle-income countries
• Super user in Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint and Excel and foundational models
• Proficiency in English (written and oral). Speaking Danish fluently is not a requirement
