Experienced Biostatistician, Clinical Data Science & AI
Job Summary
Are you genuinely excited about turning clinical data into published science and how agentic AI is reshaping that work from hypothesis generation all the way to a finished poster Then this role in Clinical Data Science at ALK could be your next career challenge.
The position
ALK develops allergy immunotherapy treatments that modify the immune systems response to allergens rather than just treating symptoms. We believe in communicating more evidence from our clinical trials. This role exists to find what is still worth telling and bring it to the scientific community.
Working closely with Medical Affairs you will turn our concluded and legacy studies on their own and paired with publicly available real-world data into credible evidence that lands at congresses in journals and with the wider scientific community. This is life cycle management at its most scientific: not maintaining what already exists but actively finding what our data can still credibly support and bringing it to publication. You will help shape that direction together with Medical Affairs and have real influence over where we go.
The work runs from ideation to finishing output. You collaborate with Medical Affairs on which stories are worth telling work out what the data can credibly support design and run the analysis and deliver the abstract or poster or co-create a manuscript. Part of that is recognizing when an idea has already been tried when the data cannot answer it or when an analysis path would not lead anywhere defensible.
What makes the role different is how the work gets done. Agentic AI has reached a point where it is genuinely useful across the evidence cycle: making sense of clinical data ideating generating and pressure testing hypotheses writing analysis programs and scripts producing tables figures and draft text. We would like this role to use those capabilities hands on and to partner with our Data & AI Engineer to explore how AI-augmented approaches can scale this kind of evidence generation.
What you will be doing
- Be Medical Affairs main point of contact for data analyses visualisations communications and publications starting with our respiratory SLIT-tablets.
- Ideate high-level evidence questions with Medical Affairs and take the strongest ones from idea through to a finished abstract or poster or help shape a manuscript.
- Take end-to-end ownership of requested and co-identified evidence opportunities potentially across our assets.
- Bring methodological robustness so our published evidence holds up to regulators payers and the wider scientific community.
- Align across functions working closely with Medical Affairs Biometrics Data Management and our Medical & Science function.
- Structure the work so it is reproducible and reusable beyond a single project from how data is prepared to how analytical workflows are built.
- Use AI augmentation where it adds value day to day so your time goes to ideation methodology and the calls that need scientific judgment.
- Help us imagine and build a more ambitious agentic approach to mining our legacy data with our Data & AI Engineer. One way this could look: an orchestrating AI working with trial-specific agents that map what data exists and present back coherently what we have and what we do not then carry a high-level question through hypothesis generation reproducible and auditable programming and a drafted storyline with figures all version controlled and with human steering throughout.
