Senior Site Reliability Engineer @ SimSpace
About the Role
Youll help build automate and secure the infrastructure that powers the SimSpace cyber-range
platform working across the full breadth of the SRE practice site reliability DevOps and
DevSecOps. Youll build the systems that deliver SimSpace software to its own data centers to
customers who bring their own hardware and as pre-packaged appliances. With the on-premises
product in pre-GA youll help shake out delivery with early customers while building the
automation that scales it.
SimSpace is an AI Proving Ground for cybersecurity a live-fire cyber range and simulation
platform trusted by allied governments militaries and Fortune 50 enterprises. Founded in 2015
by experts from U.S. Cyber Command and MIT Lincoln Laboratory SimSpace lets organizations
train test and validate their defenses (and now their AI tools) in a safe realistic environment
with a new platform reaching general availability in August 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build infrastructure automation for consistent repeatable deployments across
SimSpace-hosted data centers customer-provided hardware and pre-packaged
appliances.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD improving build
reliability deployment velocity and developer experience.
Manage and evolve Kubernetes infrastructure including application packaging and
deployment with Grafana Tanka and Kustomize.
Build observability tooling on the Grafana stack monitoring alerting logging and
dashboards for clear system-health visibility.
Identify and resolve performance and reliability issues (pod scaling resource allocation
latency bottlenecks) driving lasting fixes with application teams.
Harden pipelines and runtime environments via container security network segmentation
image scanning and vulnerability management.
Serve as a hands-on partner to engineering teams across the org (this is a service team as
much as a delivery team) context-switching between project work and support.
Contribute to incident response through a light on-call rotation and post-incident
improvements.
Required Qualifications
Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish across written virtual and in-person
interactions.
57 years as a site-reliability DevOps or infrastructure engineer with a track record of
building automation and tooling that improves reliability and operational efficiency.
Hands-on Kubernetes in production deployment tooling cluster operations
troubleshooting and workload performance tuning (resource allocation pod scaling latency
analysis).
Solid experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines preferably with GitHub Actions
ArgoCD or similar GitOps tooling.
Experience with observability/monitoring (preferably the Grafana stack) designing alerting
strategies and debugging complex distributed-systems issues.
Strong software-engineering skills beyond scripting production-quality code clean
interfaces maintainable tooling; language-agnostic with depth in at least one language.
Practical infrastructure-as-code and configuration management at scale.
Working knowledge of VMware virtualization environments and a security-minded approach
to infrastructure (container/network security vulnerability scanning).

Comfort across self-hosted on-premises and air-gapped deployment models.
Experience delivering software to customer-managed environments.

Location & Work Setup
Remote-first based in Costa Rica. SimSpace operates remote-first with no designated office;
occasional in-region team gatherings (roughly once every few months) may occur and any
required travel is reimbursed. Youll collaborate with SimSpaces distributed teams (40 U.S.
states and Costa Rica) so reliable overlap with U.S. time zones and strong English
communication are expected.
Engagement begins through an Employer of Record (EOR) and is planned to convert to
SimSpaces local Costa Rica entity (anticipated around AugustSeptember 2026) at which point
you become a full-time SimSpace employee.

Base salary. Competitive level-based for a Senior SRE (level 3) exact USD range and
payment currency to be confirmed with SimSpace with annual performance bonuses tied
