Sr. Accountant

Howard Financial is a tech-forward outsourced accounting and finance firm founded in 2023. We partner with growing companies across four verticals: Vacation Rental Hospitality Consumer & E-Commerce and Development & Real Estate.

Our team combines strong accounting fundamentals with modern tools and automation so clients get accurate books fast closes and finance insights they can act on.

Were looking for a Senior Accountant with hands-on real estate accounting experience to own the books for a portfolio of Development & Real Estate clients. Youll run month-end close across multiple entities keep project and property financials clean and be the go-to accounting contact for your clients.

Location: Remote EST Time Zone

• Own the full month-end and year-end close for multiple real estate entities (LLCs partnerships property-level and holding entities).
• Prepare and review journal entries accruals prepaids and bank credit card and intercompany reconciliations.
• Track development projects: construction-in-progress (CIP) cost capitalization job costing and placing assets in service.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation and track loans draws interest and debt covenants.
• Account for rental revenue tenant receivables security deposits and CAM reconciliations where applicable.
• Prepare financial statements and reporting packages: balance sheet P&L cash flow budget vs. actual and project cost reports.
• Support investor and partner reporting capital contributions and distributions.
• Coordinate with external CPAs on audits tax filings and 1099s.
• Review the work of junior accountants and bookkeepers and help improve close processes and documentation.
• Communicate directly with clients in English: answer questions flag issues early and explain the numbers clearly.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting (Contador Público or equivalent).
• 4 years of accounting experience with at least 2 years in real estate: development property management or investment entities.
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP and full-cycle accounting from transactions to financial statements.
• Experience with multi-entity books intercompany activity and consolidations.
• Hands-on experience with CIP cost capitalization fixed assets and debt accounting.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or a real estate platform such as Yardi AppFolio MRI or Sage Intacct.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills (lookups pivot tables reconciliation workbooks).
• Advanced English (C1 or higher) written and spoken for daily client communication.
• Organized and deadline-driven comfortable managing several clients at once in a remote setting.

• Experience at an outsourced accounting firm or a US CPA firm serving real estate clients.
• Familiarity with ASC 842 lease accounting and investor waterfall distributions.
• Exposure to construction draw requests lender reporting or fund accounting.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ramp Dext or similar.
• CPA or local equivalent certification or progress toward one.
