Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Engineer Water Hydraulics & Drainage to join our Enterprise Capabilities Design Center in Bogotá D.C. The selected candidate will support the analysis modelling and design of stormwater wastewater and drainage systems for a diverse range of infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modelling using tools such as HEC-HMS HEC-RAS SWMM InfoWorks and SewerGEMS/StormGEMS as well as the development of coordinated and constructible engineering designs and documentation. This role requires solid technical and analytical skills attention to quality and detail and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and Lead Offices across different regions to deliver high-quality sustainable and resilient water infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hydrologic analyses and hydraulic modeling for watersheds channels and drainage/collection networks using tools such as HEC-HMS HEC-RAS 1D/2D SWMM/InfoWorks and SewerGEMS/StormGEMS.
  • Develop designs for stormwater drainage systems (e.g. storm sewers open channels culverts detention/retention water quality controls) and sanitary/wastewater systems (e.g. gravity sewers pressurized mains pump stations appurtenances).
  • Prepare engineering drawings details and profiles in Revit Civil 3D AutoCAD or MicroStation; support BIM coordination model federation and clash detection.
  • Produce engineering calculations reports quantity take-offs and technical specifications that are clear traceable and aligned to client and AECOM standards.
  • Integrate sustainability and resilience practices including LID/SuDS BMPs water quality controls and erosion/sediment control measures into planning and design.
  • Interpret and apply codes standards and design criteria (client-specific and internal) to ensure compliance quality constructability and auditable documentation.
  • Support QA/QC processes respond to review comments and RFIs and assist with change management document control and versioning best practices.
  • Collaborate with transportation structural geotechnical environmental utilities and construction-phase teams to ensure coordinated constructible solutions.
  • Manage assigned tasks to scope schedule and budget communicating progress and risks proactively and adhering to AECOMs safety and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary coordination meetings; prepare concise presentations and figures to communicate engineering findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

 

     


    Qualifications :

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydraulics Hydrology Water Resources Engineering or related field.
    • At leats 2 years of relevant experience; internships co-ops and applied academic projects considered.
    • Fundamental knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics for collection conveyance storage and discharge systems.
    • Proficiency with Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS for plans profiles surfaces and spatial analysis.
    • Working knowledge of H&H software such as HEC-HMS HEC-RAS (1D/2D preferred exposure) and SWMM.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations data analysis and QA.
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings develop technical details and document calculations and assumptions clearly.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
    • High attention to detail commitment to quality and willingness to learn new tools and methodologies.
    • Intermediate English proficiency (capable of reading standards/reports and preparing basic technical documentation).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 1 to 3 years of experience in roadway/urban drainage design flood mitigation stormwater management or wastewater collection systems.
    • Postgraduate studies or advanced training in Hydraulics Hydrology or Water Resources Engineering.
    • Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS 2D and/or InfoWorks ICM).
    • Experience designing and sizing SuDS/LID and stormwater quality controls.
    • Proficiency with GIS platforms (ArcGIS/QGIS) for watershed delineation hydrologic parameterization and spatial analytics.
    • Familiarity with SewerGEMS StormGEMS StormCAD CulvertMaster FlowMaster InfoWorks ICM Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and Navisworks.
    • Experience with Python or similar tools for data processing automation and QA/QC workflows.
    • Experience supporting international projects and coordinating across global delivery teams.
    • Advanced English proficiency; full bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
