Job Summary
Purpose
This role is designed to support Discovery activities in Chile.
The purpose of this role is to ensure the Discovery Chile activities are carried out in accordance with Anglo American policies and procedures by providing a full range of technical support to the Discovery Manager Andes including providing essential accounting budgeting governance tax and treasury support.
The role includes responsibility for administrative and logistical matters including liaising with internal stakeholders (Supply Chain Accounting Compliance etc.) from the Chile Business and Group Functions as well as external stakeholders such as contractors ensuring that all our project and programmes are properly supported and allowing their execution on time and on budget.
Key Tasks
1. Countries with Business support (Chile):
- Finance and accounting
- Support the consolidation of monthly and projected annual budgets for the Discovery team.
- Responsible for keeping a monthly control of actual expenses versus the monthly Budget to inform Project Support Manager.
- Supervise that the payments to be made have complied with all internal procedures (quotes contracts purchase orders service orders) and have the end user approvals to authorize the generation of the Conformity and the supplier can issue its Invoice to schedule payment within the standard period (30 days).
- Provide sound cost management practices contributing to the effective use of resources.
- Identify and implement business improvement initiatives associated with the execution of the role.
- Maintain communications and work with support functions including Commercial Finance Business Partner Discovery Finance Working Group and GDG Supply Chain Business Partner.
- Procurement logistics and asset management.
- Key contact between Supply Chain IM Asset Management compliance legal teams and Discovery team to ensure all procurement logistics and asset management is carried out in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all proper steps are taken within local supply chain and finance procedures for the timely execution of contracted services or purchased goods.
- Partner with the Supply Chain team to support project monitoring and follow-up activities
2. Countries with Business support (Argentina):
Finance and Accounting
- Consolidate monthly budgets and annual forecasts.
- Monitor actual expenses against budget and report variances to the Superintendent Project Support
- Ensure payments travel advances and reimbursements comply with internal approvals documentation and settlement requirements.
- Provide sound cost management practices contributing to the effective use of resources.
- Identify and implement business improvement initiatives associated with the execution of the role.
- Maintain communications and work with support functions including external advisors to ensure all procurement logistics and asset management is carried out in a timely manner.
Procurement Logistics and Asset Management
- Lead compliant procurement and supplier-selection processes for goods and services.
- Coordinate tender processes and prepare Terms of Reference aligned with technical and SHEC requirements.
Qualifications :
- Undergraduate qualification (Bachelors/ Honours Bachelors Degree) in a relevant Finance or Economics discipline.
- A qualified Accountant (ACA ACCA CIMA) is desirable.
- Residence: Santiago Chile
- Advanced English Level - Mandatory Requirement.
- Advanced Excel skills; Power BI is desirable.
Knowledge
1. Technical:
- Experience of 3 years or more in similar roles ideally at Big Four or Minning.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Administrative Accountant Finance (budgets)
- Experience with accounting including financial reporting and budgeting
- Strong business acumen and commercially aware and comfortable operating in a constantly changing and complex commercial environment
- Knowledge of financial controls
- Knowledge of standard report templates performance metrics data requirements and customization
- Knowledge of tax processes.
- Knowledge of technical accounting standards as appropriate.
2. Safety:
- Proactively identify the risks against the safety of your own area adheres to the most appropriate practices and fervently promotes individual responsibility in relation to safety.
- Knowledge of safety policies procedures and the important role of consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values.
- Experience in community relations issues
3. Desirable:
- Experience in the extractive sector on exploration (highly desirable).
- Desirable knowledge of SAP user.
- People management skills that ensure a collaborative working environment.
