Position Overview

Provides quality Speech Language Pathology services consistent with discipline and professional standards including: prevention identification evaluation assessment diagnosis counseling treatment management and education of communication and swallowing disorders; education and supervision of students and professionals; consultation with and referral to other professionals; and research. Maintains professional accountability professional judgment and reasoning with a high-level of communication and collaboration.

Experience

  • Previous experience with relevant population is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited/recognized university is required.
  • Completion of and ongoing participation in relevant courses workshops etc. to address continuing education requirements of MSHA and specialization required for service provision.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM). Membership in other professional organizations is encouraged; for example Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines.
  • Ability to adapt readily and have excellent organizational skills required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work extended hours.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases blood and body fluids radiation toxic materials noise allergens physical and emotional stress etc.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/staff/visitors.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
