About the role
This role requires an experienced Finance Controller who has the ability to manage robust accounting processes and controls that lead to the delivery of timely and accurate financial reports of all businesses in Douala Cameroon. The ideal candidate for the role has a strong knowledge of the SAP system. The overall objective of the Financial Controller role is to manage transactional accounting product control and management reporting. They will be expected to proactively work to continually improve the efficiency of the accounting function.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Produce timely and accurate financial reports.
Maintain an efficient system of accounting records.
Improve the Companys controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.
Enhance the accuracy of the companys reported financial results.
Ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Provide regular analysis and manage risk and currency.
Lead manage coach and mentor a team.
Manage process improvements timely reporting and the development of appropriate systems to ensure financial transactions policies and procedures align with the Companys objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
An advanced degree in accounting & costing business or finance.
Minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience ideally in the commodity agriculture trading or food & beverage sector.
Thorough understanding of business financial and accounting principles and practices.
Excellent Excel skills strong systems aptitude and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
Knowledge of ERP specifically a smaller platform such as Sage Evolution.
Experience managing coaching and mentoring a team.
High sense of integrity.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and relationships with employees and business managers.
Strong analytical and presentation skills.
Ability to work in an entrepreneurial multicultural multidisciplinary team and deliver high-quality work within deadlines.
Self-starter with attention to detail and the ability to manage and prioritize workload independently.
Knowledge of OHADA accounting law.
Fluency in English and French.
