Job Summary
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing implementing and maintaining the organizations Safety Health Risk Environmental and Quality (SHREQ) Management System. The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture ensuring regulatory compliance managing risks conducting audits and investigations and continuously improving workplace safety performance.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop implement and continuously improve safety health risk environmental and quality management systems.
- Promote a strong safety culture and employee safety awareness across the organization.
- Identify hazards assess risks and implement appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
- Conduct and coordinate internal and external safety audits inspections and compliance reviews.
- Monitor and report safety performance KPIs incidents and corrective actions to management.
- Lead or participate in accident and incident investigations and ensure proper follow-up.
- Develop and review safety policies procedures training programs and emergency response plans.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety legislation regulatory requirements and relevant standards.
- Monitor operational activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Manage employee safety training medical standards drug and alcohol management and fatigue management programs.
- Coordinate injury management and workplace safety initiatives.
- Work closely with management and operational teams to identify safety improvements and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Main Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant safety certifications such as NEBOSH OSHA CSP CIH or equivalent are an advantage.
- Additional safety-related training or investigation qualifications are preferred.
Professional Experience
- 35 years of experience in safety management or a related role.
- Experience in transport construction manufacturing oil & gas or other relevant industries.
- Proven experience implementing safety programs policies and management systems.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and safety legislation.
- Experience in incident investigation reporting risk assessment and hazard identification.
- Experience with ISO standards and safety auditing is preferred.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and risk management.
- Ability to conduct safety audits inspections and compliance assessments.
- Strong emergency response and crisis management skills.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to train and educate employees on safety practices.
- Strong commitment to promoting a positive safety culture.
- Willingness to work extended hours weekends and travel when required.
