Senior Backend Engineer System Design and AI Platform

The Role & The Scope

Our team is expanding rapidly bringing increased scope for complex integrations and architectural development. We need ambitious Senior Backend Engineers who thrive on technical depth and direct problem-solving.

You will be responsible for the core stability and scalability of the platform specifically focusing on data pipeline architecture and critical enterprise integrations. If you are looking for technical mastery and direct influence over system design this is the place.

Role Focus: Python Data Integrations and Core Architecture

As a Senior Backend Engineer your primary responsibilities will be ensuring the platforms stability scalability and ability to ingest high-volume diverse data.

• Own Architectural Design: Design and architect critical scalable components including microservices APIs and establishing robust event-driven architectures essential for handling complex AI workflows.
• Drive Platform Development: implement the data source integrations and optimize the accompanying data ingestion pipelines.
• Master Modern Cloud: Design and implement solutions utilizing core AWS managed services (e.g. RDS S3 SQS/SNS).
• Test-Driven Development (TDD) and sound system design.
• Utilize AI coding tools strategically balancing efficiency gains with architectural integrity and long-term maintenance.

Your Profile

• Experience: 7 years of professional software development experience.
• Backend Mastery: Expert proficiency in Python and building robust scalable APIs. Proficiency in FastAPI (or similar modern async frameworks) is highly valued. Strong expertise in SQL/Postgres server-side architectures and design patterns.
• Cloud Engineering: Experience with AWS managed services (e.g. RDS S3 SQS/SNS) and building resilient systems in the cloud. Champion effective local development/testing practices (e.g. LocalStack).
• Data & Search: Experience with relational databases (Postgres). Experience with OpenSearch/Elasticsearch is optional but highly recommended.
• Architectural Insight: Proven experience designing and implementing highly available and performant systems including complex event-driven architectures.
• System Stability & Planning: Strong practical appreciation for robust system design and applying best practices for stability such as:
  • Designing APIs for failure and extensibility.
  • Planning for observability through structured logging metrics and tracing.
  • System Design: Strong appreciation for reducing technical debt and making sound architectural trade-offs under scale.
