The Principal Project Budget Analyst provides advanced project financial support for project portfolio.
This role involves taking a leadership role within the functional area specifically to ensure timely project and financial management activities are executed on an as needed basis.
Through this role gains a high level understanding of the functional areas delivery processes and timelines in order to assist the functional lead with specific project management responsibilities where applicable.
Additionally the Principal Project Budget Analyst provides mentorship and training to junior team members.
What Youll Do
- Administer the daily financial management of complex projects and/or large scale programs for the functional areas portion of a project budget
- As assigned serve as financial lead of a project portfolio
- Participate in the management of risk
- Identify/escalate/address risks update risk management tools and actively participate in risk meetings
- Assist in bidding and prepare new award budget revisions with minimal supervision
- Serve as a mentor and provide training to team members on project financial and project management
- Interact with sponsor management and other departments on status or topics related to the study(s) they are assigned to
- These topics can include but are not limited to scope of work contract modifications timelines and cost subject matter
- Become familiar with the functional areas delivery processes and timelines and begin to assume the role of the functional project lead as needed
- As assigned take lead on project management activitys such as developing/maintaining resource plans timelines and delivery/task trackers
- Actively participate in continuous improvement and leads initiative teams
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting mathematics or related field or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification
- Previous experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job comparable to 8 years
- 5 years complex project management experience to include allocation of resources against budget forecasting and completion/coordination of related quantitative and analytical tasks
- In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role
- Demonstrated initiative and motivation
- Excellent project management skills as shown through management of multiple projects including understanding of project management principles
- Mastery of budgeting forecasting and resource management
- Excellent analytical and quanitative skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office etc.) for analysis and presentation of data
- Capable of providing mentorship and training and promoting teamwork in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities
- Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others
