Covid-19 Updates: Oman to reopen borders on December 29

Oman will reopen its land, air, and sea borders on December 29 after temporarily closing for one week, a government Twitter account said.

the Supreme Committee responsible for tackling COVID-19 has announced in a press statement on Sunday, that the borders will be opened at 12:00 am on Tuesday, 29 December.

Simultaneously, the Committee has made the PCR obligatory for travelers coming from all over the world to Oman. It also reported that it had eliminated the quarantine protocols for tourists traveling to Oman for less than 7 days.

This news comes after the country has launched the first campaign of vaccination for its people.

The ban was imposed last week in order to avoid the spread of the current covid-19 strain detected in London and other parts of the world. The Committee advised people and citizens not to fly unless it was truly unavoidable.
