Systems Engineer — Server, Client and Network Operations for NATO with security clearance
Job Summary
A multinational defence organisation needs an engineer for the day-to-day of itsinformation and communications systems the servers the end-user devices the network servicesunderneath them and the discipline of keeping a secure estate patched and documented.
What you would be doing
- Configuring and managing systems network and end-user devices day to day.
- Providing technical support to the people who use them.
- Deploying and monitoring operating system and application security fixes across the estate.
- Writing and maintaining the technical documentation and standard operating instructions thatlet someone else do the same work.
- Running the central antivirus solution and keeping devices compliant with it.
- Troubleshooting infrastructure problems and carrying out regular maintenance.
What you would bring
- At least two years implementing and maintaining end systems inside a large organisation.
- Extensive hands-on configuration of both hardware and software.
- Virtualisation in production VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Windows environments at scale: servers and clients across distributed sites.
- Network infrastructure management and the enterprise services that sit on it directoryname resolution and the rest of what quietly holds a business up.
- Collaboration platforms such as Exchange and enterprise messaging.
- Scripting in PowerShell or Python to automate deployment and routine administration.
- Enough database and metadata understanding to configure systems that have to interoperate.
- The independence to solve a problem rather than escalate it.
