Solution Design Expert & TRS

Mission

The objective of the Solution Design department is to develop and continuously optimize the Lineas network in order to maximize the restrained resources utilization (concretely drive resources productivity) while allowing consistent robust and stable delivery hence assuring high clients satisfaction and network profitability.

You are responsible to design solutions that consider a) the approved changes in our portfolio (embedding the designed solutions) b) expected resource evolutions c) productivity targets d) if applicable important infrastructure impacts etc. aiming to allow consistent reliable and stable delivery (Produce-as-Planned).

You make sure that concepts are designed on a timely manner to allow proper customer quoting and management approval (NAB).

Finally you work closely with the Manager Solution Design & TRS in order to

• provide support for periodic meetings
• steer the important performance challenges of Lineas in the right direction
• develop planning processes tools and standards in line with the overall strategy

Tasks

Designing and optimizing solutions in your area focusing on maximal resources utilization hence growing the long-term profitability of the Network. The designed solutions will be

• be as close as possible to the targets of the latest validated Network Plan
• embed all changes in the portfolio as decided by the necessary approval bodies (Business Performance Committee Product Approval Board). In this scope you are responsible to capture on a timely manner the input from sales of products to be launched / frequencies to be adapted / ;
• be in line with the requirements of our customers (in terms of timings transit time);
• consider the latest resource evolutions and if applicable important infrastructure impacts;
• assure conformity with all regulatory safety and other relevant requirements in terms of driver fatigue asset maintenance
• deliver the expected financial contribution;
• drive the targeted resource productivity; and
• allow stability in operations

Developing concrete robust and on-time transport solutions / service offeringto optimize productivity of our assets and guarantee stable execution by Operations:

• (Re-)design / engineer robust concepts / transport solutions answering the needs of our customers whilst maximizing the productivity of our assets optimizing the planned produce to plan ratio product robustness and driving network profitability
• Be responsible for timely delivery on product / service requests based on prioritization agreed upon with Network Strategy
• Decide on handover points between countries and/or subcontractors third party involvement location of driver depots and need for knowledge (to maximize driver productivity) make vs. buy strategy based on solid financial metrics (business cases)
• Master the product inventory and Bill-of-Materials of our product/service offerings as basis for the other control towers to follow-up on ETA and drive our product quality.
• Source and execute across (traction) procurement in order to realize the approved transport solutions while minimizing the costs (a.o. assuring on-time cancellation).

Profile

• 5 years experience in operational roles within an international Railway undertaking
• Strong knowledge of Lineas (network portfolio organization) as Railway Undertaking
• Ability to motivate a team
• Ability to transform the organization in terms of mindset/behavior in line with the New way of Network thinking (joint & integrated planning)
• Team player both within the own team as across departments
• Excellent communication skills
• Problem solver that keeps cool in stressful circumstances
• High level of integrity ethical behaviour and loyalty
• Good knowledge of MS Office suite
• Knowledge of ERP Systems (CIS IRON)
• Acumen with Lineas dashboards (Tableau)
• Strong Dutch English and German
• Bachelor degree in logistics or equivalent trough experience
• This function requires experience in transportation/logistics
