R&D Prototyper

Your role

As an R&D Prototyper you are part of the R&D team and play a central hands-on role in translating design ideas into tangible solutions. You help designers validate their ideas quickly creatively and efficiently by selecting the most effective approach for every challenge.

You understand when a quick proof of concept is sufficient and when a high-quality prototype is required that closely resembles the final product. By combining technical expertise craftsmanship and creativity you ensure the right solution is delivered. You work both independently and in close collaboration with development teams and report directly to the R&D Manager.

Your responsibilities

• Build prototypes across different stages ranging from rapid concept validations to high-quality pre-series prototypes tailored to the objectives of each project.
• Help determine the most efficient way to validate ideas by making smart choices regarding materials techniques and manufacturing processes.
• Provide structured feedback to designers on manufacturability material selection tolerances and overall design quality.
• Combine testing and analysis by setting up and executing mechanical and electromechanical tests investigating deviations and failures through structured problem-solving and root cause analysis.
• Work hands-on with a variety of workshop equipment and machinery including CNC machines and welding installations while continuously expanding your technical skills.
• Ensure prototype quality and precision through the use of appropriate measurement methods and tools.
• Confidently use digital tools by consulting drawings through PLM systems supporting programming activities and clearly documenting builds and test results.
• Build test setups demonstrators and integrated prototype systems where multiple technologies come together.
• Contribute to a safe and well-organized workshop environment and actively suggest improvements to processes and tooling.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent through experience.
• Experience in prototyping product development or another hands-on technical environment.
• Strong practical knowledge of machining processes and an affinity for multiple manufacturing techniques.
• Creative solution-oriented and efficient in your approach.
• Structured and methodical when it comes to testing and problem solving.
• Comfortable reading technical drawings and working with digital tools.
• Eager to learn and open to mastering new techniques.
• Able to work independently while also being a true team player.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Fluent in English.
