This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination trading processing and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Port Operator (Shipping Agent) is responsible for the efficient coordination and execution of vessel port calls acting as the key link between ships terminals authorities and internal stakeholders. This role ensures that all operational administrative and regulatory requirements are met to enable safe compliant and cost-effective vessel turnaround.

By proactively managing port operations documentation and communication the Port Operator minimizes delays mitigates risks and supports optimal vessel performance. This role has a direct impact on supply chain continuity customer satisfaction and commercial performance through accurate planning real-time problem solving and strong stakeholder engagement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain accurate vessel and port call information in internal systems.
  • Execute daily port operations to ensure safe and efficient vessel turnaround.
  • Coordinate vessel activities such as arrival loading/discharging and departure.
  • Prepare shipping documents and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare and follow up on proforma and final disbursement accounts (PDA/FDA) to ensure timely and accurate cost management.
  • Resolve routine issues and escalate more complex problems when needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Fluent in English and Dutch
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and on-call rotations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in shipping agency port operations logistics or maritime environment is a plus
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
