Mainframe Developer Cobol

We are seeking an experienced COBOL Programmer fluent in French to join our team at Meerab Group in Brussels. The role involves developing implementing maintaining and optimizing central system applications for the banking sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop implement and maintain applications using COBOL within the central system.

• Develop and test new transaction products and management functionalities based on approved analyses and specifications.

• Assess and manage the impact of application changes on existing systems and related functionalities.

• Perform unit testing integration testing debugging and defect resolution.

• Maintain enhance and optimize existing COBOL applications to ensure performance stability and reliability.

• Investigate production incidents identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to application development testing and maintenance.

• Ensure compliance with established development standards quality requirements and change management procedures.

Required qualifications

• Proven experience in COBOL application development and maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of COBOL programming and structured programming principles.

• Ability to analyze functional specifications and translate them into technical implementations.

• Experience with debugging troubleshooting impact analysis and defect resolution.

• Understanding of software development life cycles testing methodologies and change management.

• Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience working with mainframe environments including JCL DB2 CICS and SQL.

• Background in banking financial services or other transactionintensive environments.

• Familiarity with application performance optimization and production support.

• Experience with version control deployment processes and technical documentation.
