The geospatial team of an international defence organisation in Brussels supplies maps andspatial data to senior decision-makers and analysts. It needs a GIS developer to build and extendits web mapping applications and the services behind them working on site with the projectmanager.
What you would be doing
- Developing and configuring web GIS applications with ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript and othermodern frameworks
- Bringing spatial data from classified and unclassified sources into those applications
- Converting and preparing data with Python and spatial ETL tools
- Setting up map services feature layers and tiled data so they load quickly on the web
- Tuning backend queries and map rendering for performance
- Documenting code service endpoints and architecture and passing knowledge on to staff
What you would bring
- At least 5 years of web development with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React Angular
- Hands-on work with a major web mapping SDK - layers popups custom widgets and client-sidespatial operations
- Python for geoprocessing and automation (ArcPy GeoPandas Shapely Rasterio GDAL/OGR)
- Backend services or pipelines that expose geospatial functionality
- Git Agile and a bachelors degree in computer science geography IT or similar
- Advanced English; some basic French is helpful
