Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer to support the European Commission in Geel Belgium. The successful candidate will bring strong database development expertise particularly in Oracle PL/SQL combined with hands-on experience in Jasper Reports.
The Database Engineer will be responsible for developing maintaining and optimising database solutions and reporting components while ensuring reliability performance and maintainability within a professional enterprise environment.
- Design develop maintain and optimise database solutions.
- Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures functions packages triggers and queries.
- Analyse and troubleshoot database-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Perform database performance analysis and query optimisation.
- Develop maintain and enhance reports using Jasper Reports.
- Support the integration of database and reporting components with existing applications and systems.
- Contribute to technical documentation testing deployment and maintenance activities.
- Work closely with developers analysts and other technical stakeholders.
- Follow European Commission development security quality and documentation standards.
Candidates must demonstrate:
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in database engineering database development or a closely related technical role.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PL/SQL.
- At least 3 years of professional experience with Jasper Reports.

Required Skills:
Technical Skills Required Expertise in statistics and machine learning 7 to 10 years of experience in data science ideally in the healthcare sector Knowledge of regulatory standards (FDA GMP ISO) Excellent written and spoken English Ability to write detailed technical documentation in English Proficiency in R and/or Python Expected Soft Skills Rigor autonomy and strong organizational skills Ability to work in a multicultural and project-based environment Strong interpersonal skills: listening teaching simplification synthesis Service-oriented and scientifically driven mindset Ability to lead and collaborate remotely Flexibility regarding project changes and scheduling constraints Effective in reporting and meeting facilitation
