OurProduct Support and Logistics Division (PSLD)is one of the most innovative divisions within PSLD as within all of Caterpillar our priority is ourcustomers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly everyelement of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts DistributionofCat Parts Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities technology and operational excellence.

As a Data Scientist you will be responsible for performing analytical tasks and initiatives on huge amounts of data to support data-driven business decisions and development.


Additional Information:

  • This role is located in Grimbergen (Belgium) and does not offer relocation.

  • This role is in dayshift Monday Friday.

  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules

  • This role requires up to 10% domestic or international travel

What You Will Do:

  • Support the development of data-driven solutions that enhance dealer inventory management and improve customer service outcomes.

  • Lead and support the collection processing and analysis of large complex data sets ensuring data is cleansed structured and ready for advanced analytics.

  • Develop and maintain scalable data models to support high-volume data processing and business decision-making.

  • Apply machine learning natural language processing (NLP) and text analytics techniques to extract meaningful insights and enhance data capabilities.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define data analysis requirements scope projects and translate business problems into analytical solutions.

  • Generate and present actionable insights to leadership using data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) to drive business decisions.

  • Research and implement improvements to data models algorithms and analytical approaches to increase accuracy and effectiveness.

  • Work with modern data platforms and tools (e.g. Python SQL Snowflake Azure Dataiku) to manipulate and analyze large-scale datasets.

  • Partner with internal teams to integrate signals from connected assets and apply predictive models to anticipate operational needs.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Business Statistics: Knowledge of the statistical tools processes and practices to describe business results in measurable scales; ability to use statistical tools and processes to assist in making business decisions.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

  • Machine Learning: Knowledge of principles technologies and algorithms of machine learning; ability to develop implement and deliver related systems products and services.

  • Programming Languages: Knowledge of basic concepts and capabilities of programming; ability to use tools techniques and platforms in order to write and modify programming languages.

  • Query and Database Access Tools: Knowledge of data management systems; ability to use support and access facilities for searching extracting and formatting data for further use.

  • Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools methods and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

  • Foundational experience or exposure to programming languages such as Python and SQL.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) and cloud/data platforms (e.g. Azure Snowflake).

  • Interest in or exposure to supply chain logistics or operations analytics.

  • Ability to think beyond the toolfocusing on usability impact and the end user experience.

  • Strong curiosity and desire to continuously develop both technical and business acumen.

Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.
