Join us in making the world a better place by reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. FOAMGLAS develops high-performance insulation products and systems for building applications supported by structured product research system validation and application-oriented testing.

We are looking for a Product and Systems Researcher who will report to the Technical Director FOAMGLAS Building Business. You will support FOAMGLAS product and system development through testing quality control test procedure development planning reporting and application-oriented research.

This is a pivotal hands-on role combining theoretical engineering knowledge with practical laboratory and field-oriented work. You will test FOAMGLAS products promoted third-party products and complete insulation systems interpret results prepare clear technical reports and translate findings into practical recommendations for products systems installation guidance and customer support.

What does success look like

  • Plan prepare execute and document laboratory tests safely accurately and efficiently based on project priorities required methods and available equipment.
  • Deliver reliable chemical physicochemical and mechanical evaluations of products components and complete system build-ups including quality control testing.
  • Interpret results and translate findings into clear reliable and actionable reports that support product system and application decisions.
  • Develop and continuously improve test procedures in coordination with standards and certification managers while maintaining accurate test records and structured research files.
  • Convert job-site challenges and project-specific questions into relevant laboratory or mock-up test setups supporting recommendations troubleshooting and claims investigations.

Skills and capabilities necessary to succeed

  • A theoretical and analytical mindset combined with a practical hands-on attitude and willingness to work directly with products samples test setups and laboratory equipment.
  • An accurate structured and plan-driven approach to preparing executing and documenting tests with strong safety awareness and respect for laboratory discipline.
  • Ability to interpret test results draw sound conclusions and communicate findings in clear technical reports and practical recommendations.
  • Curious critical and proactive approach with the confidence to challenge results constructively while remaining pragmatic and solution oriented.
  • Flexible and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical product development application quality operations purchasing standards and certification stakeholders.
  • Market-oriented application-oriented and customer-oriented mindset linking research findings to practical system performance and continuous improvement.

Business requirements

  • Masters degree in engineering sciences preferably in construction building engineering or civil engineering. A bachelors degree may be acceptable when combined with relevant experience and strong practical capability.
  • Experience and/or strong interest in applied scientific research product testing system testing or laboratory work with the technical ability to understand materials building applications and insulation systems.
  • Solid working knowledge of English and Dutch both spoken and written. Additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and willingness to work with laboratory documentation and reporting systems.
  • Location: On site in Tessenderlo Belgium. Occasional external testing or investigations may involve travel in Belgium or abroad.
