Job Summary
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND MISSIONS
Reports to the Regional / Operations Director for Europe depending on the final organization structure.
The General Manager is the executive leader of EGIS Operations Austria GmbH and is accountable for the overall performance profitability governance and sustainable operation of the Austrian motorway operations and maintenance business.
Leading a multidisciplinary organization in Austria the General Manager oversees all business functions including Operations & Maintenance Finance Human Resources Legal & Compliance HSE Quality Asset Management Facilities / Equipment Management Procurement and Commercial activities.
Acting as the companys legal representative where applicable the General Manager serves as the primary interface with shareholders concession partners ASFINAG and relevant public authorities regulators emergency services local communities subcontractors and strategic partners.
Strategic Leadership
Define and execute the companys strategic and operational roadmap for the Austrian project.
Deliver business objectives in accordance with shareholder expectations concession requirements and Egis governance standards.
Build a high-performance leadership culture across all departments with clear accountability and strong collaboration with the concession company and client stakeholders.
Lead organizational development continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
Operations & Asset Management
Ensure safe efficient and uninterrupted operation of the motorway and expressway infrastructure under the companys responsibility.
Monitor operational KPIs service quality road user safety response times customer satisfaction and asset availability.
Drive operational excellence through preventive and predictive maintenance winter service readiness digitalization process optimization and robust subcontractor management.
Ensure business continuity incident response and crisis management preparedness in coordination with the relevant Austrian authorities and emergency services.
Maintain lifecycle asset performance and contribute to long-term maintenance and renewal planning.
Financial & Commercial Performance
Deliver annual budget EBITDA cash flow and operational efficiency objectives.
Optimize operational costs while maintaining contractual service levels safety and asset quality.
Approve and monitor investment plans equipment strategy and capital expenditure within delegated authority.
Manage commercial performance under PPP / operating agreements including availability performance deductions variations and claims where applicable.
Governance Compliance & HSE
Ensure full compliance with operating agreements Austrian statutory requirements road safety obligations corporate governance standards and Egis policies.
Maintain robust internal controls risk management quality environmental and compliance frameworks.
Promote the highest standards of ethics transparency safety leadership and environmental responsibility.
Ensure compliance with Austrian labour HSE and road operations regulations supported by competent specialist functions.
Stakeholder Management
Represent EGIS Operations Austria GmbH before shareholders concession partners ASFINAG public authorities and regulators.
Maintain strong relationships with municipalities emergency services subcontractors suppliers local communities and strategic partners.
Lead negotiations on contractual regulatory operational and commercial matters.
Act as a credible senior representative of Egis in Austria and contribute to the development of future opportunities in the region.
People Leadership
Lead coach and develop the Executive Leadership Team and key operational managers.
Foster a strong culture of accountability safety inclusion customer focus and continuous improvement.
Drive succession planning talent development and workforce planning for critical operational roles.
Ensure constructive employee relations and effective communication in a multicultural environment.
Qualifications :
PROFILE
We are seeking an accomplished and pragmatic executive with a proven track record of leading complex infrastructure operations and maintenance businesses in regulated environments. The ideal candidate combines strong operational and financial acumen with exceptional leadership stakeholder management and the ability to drive sustainable business performance within an Austrian / European PPP or concession environment.
Education
Masters degree in engineering
MBA or executive education
Experience
15 years of leadership experience including executive-level P&L responsibility.
Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure motorway / road operations transport utilities facilities management or PPP concessions.
Strong knowledge of European infrastructure operations; experience in Austria or the DACH region is strongly preferred.
Experience working with public authorities concession grantors shareholders Boards lenders and strategic partners.
Demonstrated track record in HSE leadership service-level delivery asset management subcontractor management and operational transformation.
Fluency in German and English is expected; French is an advantage within the Egis Group context.

Additional Information :
