Whats the role
We are seeking an experienced GCP Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to lead the design development and delivery of a full-stack cloud platform for a major banking client on Google Cloud. This is a hands-on technical leadership role you will work across platform engineering full stack application development and data/AI capabilities to ensure solutions are not only well designed but successfully implemented and running in production.
You will play a key role in taking initiatives from concept to deployment helping engineers navigate complexity solve problems and deliver scalable secure and reliable systems. This is not a pure architecture role you will be expected to stay close to code actively contribute to engineering decisions and drive outcomes end-to-end.
What do I need
- Strong hands-on experience delivering production systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including GKE Cloud Run Compute Engine BigQuery Pub/Sub and Spanner along with networking IAM and security controls.
- Solid software engineering skills with experience in Java Python or Go and a strong understanding of microservices distributed systems APIs and event-driven architectures. You should be comfortable working in complex environments and debugging and scaling systems in production.
- Experience or exposure to data platforms and AI/ML services such as Vertex AI GECX.
- Deep familiarity with GCP services such as GKE Cloud Run Compute Engine BigQuery and Pub/Sub.
- Strong experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Experience with CI/CD containerisation Kubernetes and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience working in regulated environments (banking/financial services preferred).
- Strong leadership mindset with a focus on execution ownership and delivery outcomes.
