Trust Childrens Center is a high quality childrens center born out of the belief in work-life balance and the importance of our children. Trust Childrens Centers curriculum incorporates Science Technology Engineering Art and Math (STEAM) and the philosophies of the Outdoor Classroom into natural childrens play. The Trust Childrens Center is a self-run day care center sponsored by Trust Automation. Employees of the Trust Childrens Center are employed by Trust Automation a fast-growing company in San Luis Obispo which designs builds and supports control and power management systems.

Job Summary

The Teacher Assistant position will be responsible for assisting with the academic social-emotional growth and development of all children attending the Childrens Center. Age groups may include infants toddlers and/or preschool age children.

Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Under general supervision of the Director assume responsibility for implementing a quality program for young children ages 6 weeks-5 years old.
  • Able to work as a team with other teachers in a multi-age setting.
  • Willing and able to fill in any responsibilities needed with various age groups when situations arise.
  • Able to assist in maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Follows philosophies of The Outdoor Classroom Project and Reggio based learning.
  • If asked able to attend an evening staff meeting and/or training once per month.
  • Able to take direction from Classroom Teachers.
  • Able to communicate effectively as a member of a team.
  • Follows schedules and directions of classroom teachers to assist in diapering food preparation cleaning laundry dishes and all other aspects of early care and education.
  • Understands the role of an assistant as second in charge. Communication with families and discipline of children should be roles primarily handled by the full-time classroom teachers.

Position Requirements

  • 6 units in Child Development/Early Childhood Education with the plan of getting 12 addition preferably a minimum of 3 units of Infant/Toddler Studies
  • CPR/First Aide certified including fifteen hours of Health and Safety Training.
  • Good communication problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition
  • Applied knowledge of computer software including Word Outlook digital photography and Excel for email documentation and child portfolios.
  • Ability to work as a team with other teachers in a multi-age setting with a willingness to be adaptable
  • Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being
  • Must be able to manage confidential information
  • This position requires successfully passing a Livescan background check prior to the first day of employment.
  • This position may be asked to drive for company purposes during the course of employment. If asked and agreed upon employees must possess a valid California Drivers License and clean driving record.
  • May participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier or customer management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information solely to verify your identity.
Physical Requirements
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person on the telephone or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands fingers and wrist to operate a computer keyboard calculator or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials.
  • Sitting or standing for extended period of time.
  • Physical agility to lift carry push or pull objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child

Pay/Salary Information

Pay scale for this position - $19 to $22 hourly
