Milton was incorporated in 1802 and is located in the Northeast section of Strafford County. The principal villages, Milton and Milton Mills combine to encompass twenty-seven thousand acres and have a year-round population of approximately four thousand citizens. Milton is forty miles from Concord, the state capital, and is twenty miles northwest of the county seat in Dover. The principal bodies of water are Milton Three Ponds, a chain of lakes providing a boat launch and public access to the Town Beach. The Milton School District is a K-12 school district comprised of two buildings: Milton Elementary School and Nute Middle High School & Library. The school district buildings reside adjacent to each other for a compact and accessible campus. Our school district has approximately 500 students, which allows staff to have the opportunity to get to know their students well. Milton is a four-season town easily accessible to the White Mountains and the cities of Boston and Portland.
