Systems Administrator (remote)

Topcontent is a content and translations company that provides both of these services to clients across various industries in over 30 languages. Topcontent works with a team of freelancers to deliver these requirements to our clients. This role is responsible for the optimal performance, security and integrity of the system, as well as troubleshooting issues and providing IT support where required.

Tasks

Responsibilities:

• Make sure all of our 40+ servers are online and backed up
• Continuously test the backups to make sure they are working
• Support the development team in installing new servers and upgrading existing ones
• Configure and maintain the networked system, including system software, and applications.
• Effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues
• Make sure the data is backed up
• Diagnose and resolve software, networking, and system issues when they arise.
• Monitor system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.
• Provide technical support when requested.
• Back up the data
• Troubleshoot technical network and server problems and provides technical support.
• Control network access and administration privileges.
• Perform regular backups of data.
• Review current performance, capacity and capability and determine future needs.
• Did we mention backups? Lots of backups!

Requirements

Currently Used Technology:

• Hetzner hosting (virtual servers, virtual storage).
• Working with the service forge laravel
• Ubuntu Linux (mostly version 20.04).
• UFW (firewall), VPN (Streisand).
• MySQL (including master-slave replication), Redis.
• Nginx, PHP-FPM.
• Laravel, Wordpress.
• Node.js.
• Automation skills are an advantage
• Most of the system scripts are written in Perl 5 or Node.js.
• Some API's and system tools are written in Crystal or Golang.
• Browser automation scripts are written in Puppeteer or Playwright.
• Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana.
• You may need the competence to configure our own mail server (Postfix).
• Work support for applications: MateCat (java), MailHog (golang), MetaBase (clojure)

Requirements:

• Formal training in an IT-related field; a degree in an IT-related field is preferred.
• Experience with the interactive network environment
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Systems Administrator
• Being able to speak Russian is a plus

Salary: 1,100 euros gross per month
