The role of the Project Manager includes (but is not limited to) the following duties:

  1. Project Planning and Management:
    • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
    • Define project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation to ensure successful completion of data migration projects.
    • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to align project goals and expectations, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Manage project budgets, track expenses, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
  2. Data Migration Strategy and Execution:
    • Design and implement data migration strategies tailored to meet project requirements and adhere to industry best practices.
    • Analyze existing data structures, identify data quality issues, and recommend data cleansing and transformation approaches.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to develop and execute data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
    • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to Oracle databases, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
    • Conduct thorough testing and validation of migrated data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead cross-functional teams, including data analysts, developers, database administrators, and business stakeholders, to ensure seamless project execution.
    • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing between team members and stakeholders.
    • Resolve conflicts, mitigate risks, and escalate issues when necessary to ensure project success.
  4. Stakeholder Management:
    • Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and align project deliverables with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with business users to define data migration success criteria and ensure successful user acceptance testing.
    • Conduct regular project status meetings, presentations, and progress reports to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and proactively address concerns or issues that may impact the project.


Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • National Diploma/Degree in an ICT related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing Oracle data migration projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of Oracle databases, tools, and technologies (e.g., Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Data Pump, Oracle GoldenGate).
  • Strong understanding of data migration methodologies, including data mapping, extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Experience with data quality analysis, cleansing, and validation techniques.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale data migration projects.
  • Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus.
