Oracle database Engineer

Hybrid (3 days per week in Mclean office = flexibility on those days when they start out).

*IMPORTANT: 3 days in office is mandatory and candidates should be local to DMV area

1. Participate in designing, planning, implementing, and administering of Oracle/MS SQL databases at all levels.
2. Proactively monitor and optimize system performance using tuning, optimization, AWR, ASH, and other methods.
3. Maintain database integrity, availability, and restorability
4. Provide on-call support on a rotating basis.
5. Design and architect database solutions and recovery plans to support complex systems.
6. Design Logical / Physical Database structure Layouts.
7. Develop database standards, guidelines, and best practices
8. Perform capacity planning: develop and implement solutions for database and server sizing/capacity and space requirements
9. Promote a collaborative work environment by sharing knowledge through documentation and/or providing training to others in the team.
10. Evaluate and research new database features, versions, and technologies
11. Maintain currency with new release of Oracle/MS SQL, including compatibility issues with operating systems, third party software and utilities.
12. Lead and contribute to design discussions in a cross-functional project setting.
13. Script and/or automate common repeatable tasks.

You should definitely have:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of bachelor's degree.
• At least 7+years of professional experience performing Oracle database administration.
• Working experience and knowledge of Oracle's Golden Gate software.
• Strong experience with SQL and demonstrated ability to develop, validate and tune complex queries.
• Working experience and knowledge of Partitioning,
• Proficiency with PL/SQL.
• Must have extensive experience in installation, configuration, upgrading and patching of Oracle server software.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle.
• Must have knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience working with MS SQL.
• Working experience with OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager).
• Candidate must be technically oriented and must be a creative problem solver.
• Self-motivated and have excellent communication skills.
• Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.

It would be nice if you had:

• Knowledge of Oracle Application Express.
