The Estimator is responsible for working both independently and collaboratively (with executive management and project teams) to estimate project costs for firm fixedprice bids proposals and change orders. The Estimator’s job is to leverage field experience industry knowledge and solid analytical skills to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs. Fundamental to this role is the ability to make sound assumptions and identify gaps in construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Track bid advertisements.
• Review and handle bid documents.
• Maintain logs.
• Develop data bases and directories.
• Attend WalkThru to check field conditions & prepare estimates.
• Assist in maintaining project sub bidders contact list.
• Review Drawings Specifications and Addendums.
• Perform detailed project cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity takeoffs for select trades.
• Estimate labor and material costs by soliciting quotes.
• Receive analyze and complete bid comparisons.
• Participate in bid analysis prepare final bids and requests for proposals.
• Qualify and level subcontractors’ proposals according to project specifications.
• Communicate with owners engineers general contractors vendors and subcontractors.
• Assist in setting up and getting projects started where we are the low bidder.
• Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors.
• Interact with clients architects engineers and Local Jurisdictions to understand and incorporate project objectives schedules permits costs etc.
• Assist with MWDBE plan development plan execution and continual compliance.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• Approximately 3 years of experience in estimating.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency in basic engineering computations and analysis.
• Ability to read understand and interpret engineering drawings.
• Proficient in Excel Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with estimating software.
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Excellent interpersonal writing and computer skills.
• Knowledge of CMiC software is a plus.
• Must be safety oriented.
  

• College degree in Engineering Construction Management or other related field (or equivalent years’ experience).
• Experience within Quotesoft estimating software is a plus.
