Lead Estimator

• We are hiring an experienced Lead Estimator for our team at the DFW International Airport.
• Experience level is open to estimators with experience working in the A/E/C industry with preference for estimators who have experience on airport projects and working for dedicated cost consultants.
• The Lead Estimator will serve as a liaison between our estimating team and the PM/CM and Design Teams project managers.
• The estimator typically collaborates with a project team that is part of the owner organization stakeholders project management and A/E to help leaders determine what they need to see a project through to completion.
• Their job is to perform mathematical calculations and get quotes from vendors to estimate the costs needed for labor and materials.

Duties Functions and Responsibilities:

• Reads and interprets construction documents and specifications developed by Architects and Engineers (A/Es).
• From this and project information coordinated by the Chief Estimator and Estimating Manager he or she develops an organizational scheme using Construction Specification Institutes (CSI) divisional categories.
• Quantity takeoff (QTO) measurements of construction scope using scaled units of measure (UOM) that correlate to itemized pricing for labor material and construction equipment are organized by CSI.
• Utilizing construction site field experience assess means and methods for a typical selfperforming contractor to perform the work.
• The estimator requires proficiency in commercial QTO software such as Construct Connect Takeoff OnScreen Takeoff PlanSwift and Bluebeam.
• They may also be responsible for reevaluating project needs throughout the course of the project to adjust to environmental restraints or budget cuts. The estimator requires proficiency in Commercial Estimating software such as SuccessEstimator Sage CostOS ICE and others.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

The Estimator will have proficiency in one (1) or more of the following construction areas:

• Civil/Site clearing earthwork utilities parking lots roadways site lighting
• Architectural exterior and interior architectural elements of a facility that includes floors walls ceilings windows openings. specialties furnishings casework a.s.o.
• Structural Substructure superstructure elements and exterior closure of a facility.
• Mechanical HVAC hydronics plumbing and controls for all fluid systems.
• Electrical Power Lighting Distribution and electrical related systems

Estimators use a variety of technical and soft skills to support the profitable operations or cost confidence and reliability for executives to make wellinformed decisions including:

• Proficiency in mathematics statistics and data analysis
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects
• Working knowledge with analytic tools such as spreadsheets and database managers
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional time management skills
