We are recruiting for an experience Child Therapist/Counsellor for our clients Childrens Home based in Edgeware, London.
The home works with children with a wide range of needs including:
Problematic Sexually Harmful Behaviour (PSHB, PSB,SHB, HSB)
Challenging behaviours, including emotional & behavioural difficulties (EBD, SEMH)
Attachment issues
Absconding
Self-harm
Low self-esteem / confidence
Autism, Asperger and mild learning difficulties
Young people who expose themselves to risk of harm
A cycle of criminal offending
Have poor life skills and are approaching independence
At high risk of child sexual exploitation.
Responsibilities:
To support the delivery of a PACE and trauma-informed model of care, education and therapy for vulnerable teenage boys in a therapeutic community setting
To run a therapeutic service that includes the assessment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
To produce formal written reports for internal and external reviews
To develop 1-1 therapeutic relationships with the boys
To develop and implement a specialist Problematic Sexual Behaviour therapeutic programme.
To provide regular Staff Supervision within the residential setting to guide practice.
To attend Team Meetings and facilitate Group Supervision.
To build relationships with families, where appropriate, through regular therapeutic parenting sessions.
To work closely with leadership to ensure a therapeutic community and culture is upheld.
To be involved in the assessment of young people at regular intervals using the BERRI assessment tool and produce regular reports.
To have very good teamwork skills and flexibility to support in the home and school when needed.
To be able to working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
To contribute to enabling staff and young people from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a safe, therapeutic environment.
To support links with other external agencies relevant to the task and develop positive relationships with them. (E.g. colleges, YOS, housing etc)
To contribute to the delivery of training in specific/ identified programmes with other management colleagues
To continue to engage in professional development and wider reading across the sector and practice
To work as an autonomous professional and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work.
Any other relevant duties delegated by the Management Team to support operations and care planning in accordance with regulations
Person specification:
Working within a therapeutic community
Working with children and young people
Working with vulnerable and complex clients
Experience of working with PSB
Relevant degree/qualifications in Counselling and/or Psychotherapy
Working knowledge of the PACE Model and its application
Special requirements: To ensure a therapeutic and caring environment To engage in external clinical supervision as provided and link this to internal line management as appropriate. To work alongside other disciplines and role model this in the day to day To be aware of and to understand the needs of Looked After Children Create an environment that allows working in a caring and therapeutic manner
