Laboratory Analyzer / Instrument Maintenance Technician

Location: Qatar

Position Summary

The Laboratory Analyzer / Instrument Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintenance troubleshooting calibration repair installation and preventive maintenance of laboratory analyzers and instrumentation systems in a petrochemical plant environment. The role ensures reliable operation of laboratory analytical equipment while maintaining strict compliance with plant safety procedures and operational standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

EducationRequired ExperienceHigh School / Secondary (12th Grade) or 10th Grade plus Vocational TrainingMinimum 7 years relevant maintenance experience2-Year Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Communication EngineeringMinimum 6 years relevant maintenance experience3-Year Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering or Electronics & Communication EngineeringMinimum 5 years relevant maintenance experience

Additional Requirements

• Proficiency in English language (reading writing and speaking)

• Familiarity with petrochemical plant safety standards and procedures

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

• Understand and comply with plant safety standards procedures and regulations

• Identify and work safely around petrochemical plant hazards

• Participate actively in company safety initiatives audits and training programs

• Maintain excellent housekeeping practices in laboratory and maintenance areas

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform preventive corrective and breakdown maintenance of laboratory analyzers and instrumentation

• Troubleshoot and repair analyzer sampling systems

• Follow manufacturer maintenance and troubleshooting procedures

• Maintain and properly use test calibration and diagnostic equipment

• Overhaul sample valves and analyzer-related equipment

• Install modify and commission analyzer sample systems and tubing

• Improve instrument reliability and reduce maintenance costs

Laboratory Equipment Maintenance

Maintain troubleshoot and repair laboratory analytical equipment including but not limited to:

• Gas Chromatographs (GC)

• XRF Spectrophotometers

• Press Molding Machines

• Total Organic Compound Analyzers

• Melt Index Analyzers

• pH & Conductivity Analyzers (Mettler Toledo)

• Dew Point Meters

• Oxygen Analyzers

• UV VIS Spectrometers

• Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometers

• Blown Film Extruders

Auxiliary Equipment Maintenance

• Maintain auxiliary systems such as:

  • Vent fume hoods

  • Chillers

  • HVAC systems

  • Carrier and standard gas systems

Technical & Operational Support

• Read and interpret P&ID loop logic and electrical drawings

• Perform daily laboratory preventive maintenance activities

• Assist vendor service engineers during annual preventive and corrective maintenance

• Support installation and commissioning of new analyzers

• Work closely with operations technical and maintenance teams

• Participate in laboratory operational activities when required

• Work as Laboratory Technician when assigned
