One of our International Oilfield Services client is seeking a Lead Electrical / Control Systems Engineer to be based in Dhahran Saudi Arabia.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Lead Electrical / Control Systems Engineer provides technical leadership for all electrical instrumentation and control systems engineering on large-scale industrial projects. The role covers power distribution motor control hazardous area classification DCS/PLC/SIS design instrumentation and telecoms from FEED through commissioning. The successful candidate will be a multi-discipline EPC professional with deep hands-on experience in industrial plant automation and power systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead electrical and control systems engineering from FEED through detailed design construction and commissioning.
- Develop electrical load lists single-line diagrams area classification drawings hazardous area equipment specifications and cable routing/schedule documentation.
- Design and specify medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems motor control centres (MCCs) variable speed drives switchgear and UPS systems.
- Lead instrumentation and control design: P&ID instrument symbology instrument datasheets cause-and-effect matrices logic diagrams and loop drawings.
- Specify and oversee procurement of DCS PLC SIS (Safety Instrumented System) and HMI/SCADA systems; manage vendor document review and FAT activities.
- Ensure all designs comply with Saudi Aramco electrical and instrumentation standards IEC IEEE NFPA 70 IEC 61511 (SIS) and applicable area classification codes (IEC 60079).
- Participate in SIL assessments HAZOP reviews and LOPA studies; manage instrumented protective function design and validation.
- Coordinate with process mechanical and civil disciplines for instrument locations cable trays earthing systems and power supply routing.
- Provide field construction support: E&I installation inspection loop checks FAT/SAT support pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical and control systems.
- Lead and mentor the electrical/instrumentation engineering team; review and approve all discipline deliverables.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience on EPC projects in oil & gas petrochemical or large-scale industrial processing facilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical power systems and control/instrumentation engineering in hazardous area environments.
- Experience with DCS/PLC platforms (Honeywell Experion Yokogawa CENTUM Siemens ABB or equivalent) and SIS design per IEC 61511.
- Familiarity with Saudi Aramco standards is a significant advantage.
- Owners engineering or PMC-side experience in addition to EPC background is a significant advantage.
- Hands-on commissioning and loop-check field experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills in English; Arabic is an advantage.
