Job Title: Project Accountant

Role Overview:
A Project Accountant is responsible for managing financial activities related to specific projects ensuring accurate budgeting cost control financial reporting and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The role plays a key part in monitoring project profitability and supporting project teams with financial insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage project budgets forecasts and financial plans
- Monitor project costs expenses and revenue against budgets
- Track project financial performance and profitability
- Prepare periodic financial reports (weekly/monthly) for management
- Ensure accurate recording of project-related transactions
- Handle invoicing billing and revenue recognition for projects
- Coordinate with project managers to track financial progress
- Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions
- Maintain project accounts ledgers and documentation
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Assist in audits by providing required financial data and reports
- Manage cash flow and payment schedules related to projects
- Monitor contract terms related to financial aspects
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or Commerce
- Professional certification such as CA / CMA / ACCA (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project accounting or similar role
- Experience in construction engineering or project-based industries is preferred
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience in project budgeting and cost control
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP SAP Oracle Tally etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Understanding of contract accounting and revenue recognition
