Chief Engineer

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Responsible for directing controlling coordinating and participating in all Engineering activities

In charge of the daily operation of the Engineering department

In charge of the maintenance repair and engineering of the Hotel operation.

In charge of the security aspects of the hotel complex.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY:

• Supervises and participates in:
  • Installing maintaining repairing and operating Hotel machinery equipment and related systems.
  • Fabricating maintaining installing or repairing plumbing and sanitary facilities.
  • Painting and varnishing surfaces trimmings and fixtures of the building and other structures.

• Implements preventive maintenance and repair schedules for all hotel complex machinery equipment and other facilities.
• Develops and implements cost reduction work simplification methods and techniques and improvement programmes
• General maintenance of the building
• Maintenance and repair of mechanical electrical and others.
• Operation trouble shooting.
• Prepares and/or recommends requisitioning/ordering pertaining to maintenance of equipment materials and supplies.
• Participates in the execution of new projects including planning and costing.
• Coordinates with Security Contractors in all aspect of the safety and security of the hotel properties
• Prepares work schedules.
• Participates in the Engineering budget and business plan preparation.
• Holds regular communication meetings with the staff Director of Engineering and other departments.
• Maintains discipline.
• Ensures the implementation of all instructions given by the Management / Director of Engineering
• Conducts routine inspections of the entire building including mechanical areas.
• Supervises the implementation of all maintenance contracts.
• To be fully in-charge of the fire and safety policies and procedure for the hotel.

• Carries out fire brigade duties as required
• Coordinate with the Dubai Civil Defense for a yearly Fire Evacuation Drill

• Initiates energy and water conservation plans as per Accors environmental charter.
• Ensures that health hygiene and safety regulations are complied with and applied in the hotel in compliance with HACCP standards and procedures set by the Dubai Municipality

Technical Responsibilities:

• Trouble shooting operation repair and maintenance of:
  • Mechanical services such as A/C unit exhaust and ventilation
  • Heater and coolers system water supply and waste water treatment
  • Sanitary and plumbing steam generators swimming pool filtration

• Electrical services such as power supply main circuit breakers transformers high and low tension emergency generators room switches telephones lifts and lighting
• Life safety equipment such as fire fighting sprinklers detectors fire pumps exit signage and extinguishers.
• Utilities supply such as hot and cold water electricity gas fuel
• Kitchen and laundry equipments
• General building maintenance such as masonry painting carpentry etc.

• Plan and organize training such as civil defense first aid fire drill trainings
• Prepares and participates in the departmental training plan

• To report for duty punctually and well groomed.
• To maintain good working relationships with own colleagues and all other departments.

• To have a complete understanding of and adhere to the Hotels policy relating to Fire Hygiene Health and Safety.
• To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times.
• To have a complete understanding of the Hotels rules and regulations and adhere to them.
• To be fully aware conversant and embody Accors spirit values and goals and is responsible to integrate them in the day to day operation.
• To be fully aware and conversant of Accor environmental charter and is responsible to integrate them in the day to day operation.

• Report directly to the GM .

• To assume the functions and responsibilities of Duty Manager in accordance with the Hotels Duty Managers Roster.

• To respond to changes in the function as dictated by the industry company or the hotel.

• To carry out quarterly bi-yearly yearly inventory of operating equipment.

• It is a company policy that the Chief Engineer may be sent for a temporary assignment within Dubai or abroad to a sister hotel for engineering related matters.

Qualifications :

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in hotel engineering or facilities management with at least 3 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC electrical plumbing and fire safety.
• Experience in budgeting project management and contractor management.
• Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of sustainability practices and energy management systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with local regulations building codes and safety standards.
