Full-time Faculty Graphic Design
This position accepts local candidates only.
Classification: Faculty (Institutional Support)
Reports To: Dean School of Architecture and Design
Location: Saad Al Abdullah Kuwait
Position Summary:
The School of Architecture and Design invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Multimedia Design at the rank of Full Professor Associate Professor or Assistant Professor depending on qualifications and experience.The successful candidate willdemonstrateexcellence in teaching multimedia designmaintainan active research and/or creative practice profile and engage with contemporary multimedia technologies and methodologies. The appointee will contribute to undergraduate education curriculum development student mentorship and institutional service within a collaborative and multicultural academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Deliver innovative undergraduate courses in multimedia design including interactive media animation video production motion graphics and digital storytelling.
- Integrate emerging technologies such as virtual/augmented reality immersive media AI-assisted design tools and interactive platforms into the curriculum.
- Develop and update course content to reflect industry standards and accreditation requirements.
- Supervise senior projects and guide students in digital portfolio development.
- Maintain rigorous assessment standards and structured studio critique methodologies.
Research Scholarship and Creative Activity:
- Maintain an active research agenda and/or professional creative practice in multimedia motion design or digital media.
- Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Participate in exhibitions screenings digital showcases and professional collaborations.
- Engage in interdisciplinary projects and pursue external funding where applicable.
- Contribute to strengthening theSchoolsacademic and professional profile.
Service and Institutional Engagement:
- Engage actively in departmental school and university committees.
- Support program assessment accreditation documentation and quality assurance activities.
- Participate in student recruitment outreach initiatives exhibitions competitions and community engagement.
- Offer academic advising and mentorship to students.
- Foster a culture of diversity equity and inclusion within the academic community.
Qualifications
- Academic Credentials:
PhD in Multimedia Design Digital Media Visual Communication or a closely related field; or MFA in Multimedia Design or Digital Media from an accredited institution.
- Teaching Experience:
Minimum of five years of university-level teaching experience (for senior ranks) withdemonstratedexcellence in studio-based multimedia instruction.
- Professional Expertise:
Strong portfolioevidencingprofessional and/or research-based work in multimedia motion design animation or interactive media.
- Technical Skills:
Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (After Effects Premiere Illustrator Photoshop) 3D software (e.g. Blender Cinema 4D) motion graphics platforms and interactive design tools.
- Research and Scholarship:
Evidence of peer-reviewed publications creative productions exhibitions or recognized professional practice.
- Communication Skills:
Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Cultural Competency:
Experience working effectively in multicultural academic environments.
Preferred
- Emerging Technologies:
Expertise in immersive media AR/VR game design AI-driven media production or interactive installations.
- Accreditation Experience:
Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g. NASAD or equivalent).
- Industry Engagement:
Professional industry experience and active engagement with digital media networks.
- Capstone Supervision:
Experience supervising senior thesis or multimedia capstone projects.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Record of collaborative research or externally funded creative initiatives.
