Job Purpose
Under the Compliance & Smart Operations department within the hypervision team the Control Center Operator is responsible for the continuous real-time monitoring and remote regulation of water utility infrastructure via SCADA systems. This role ensures the stable distribution of water and the efficiency of treatment processes by responding to system alarms coordinating field team interventions and maintaining precise operational data logs
MAIN TASKS
- Monitor real-time SCADA displays to track water levels flow rates and pressure across the network.
- Execute remote commands to start or stop pumps and adjust valve positions based on demand.
- Identify and acknowledge system alarms prioritizing critical failures for immediate escalation.
- Coordinate with field technicians to dispatch maintenance teams to specific site locations during outages.
- Log all daily operational events equipment status changes and set-point adjustments accurately.
- Monitor water quality parameters remotely to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Manage energy consumption by scheduling high-load operations during off-peak hours when possible.
- Maintain a detailed shift handover report to ensure continuity of operations between rotations.
- Verify the integrity of communication links between the control center and remote telemetry units.
- Implement emergency protocols and shutdown procedures during pipe bursts or equipment malfunctions.
- Generate daily production and distribution reports for management and regulatory review
Requirements
Experience-
- Minimum of 46 years in a control room or dispatch environment preferably within the water power or oil and gas utilities.
- Experience working in shift-based rotations (24/7 operations) and a proven track record of handling industrial emergencies
Education-
- Diploma or associate degree in Instrumentation and Control Electrical Engineering Water Operations or a related technical field.
- Formal SCADA operator training or Water Distribution/Treatment certifications are highly desirable
Qualifications-
- Strong ability to navigate and interpret SCADA interfaces and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens.
- Capacity to spot trends in pressure or flow data that indicate leaks or pump inefficiencies.
- Ability to make rapid logical choices during emergency or high-stress scenarios.
- High level of focus required for extended periods of monitoring system variables.
- Proficient in using digital logs Microsoft Excel and reporting software.
- Fundamental understanding of hydraulics and water treatment cycles.
- Must be Oman resident
