Job Title: Head of Concept Designs
The Head of Concept Designs is responsible for leading the conceptual design function ensuring all design outputs align with company standards client vision market positioning and regulatory requirements. The role focuses on establishing strong design direction and delivering innovative commercially viable concepts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Concept Leadership & Design Governance
Define and drive the overall design philosophy and creative direction
Establish and maintain concept design standards guidelines and branding
Review guide and approve all concept design submissions
Ensure consistency and quality across all concept design outputs
2. Client Brief & Vision Development
Lead the interpretation of client briefs into clear design strategies
Ensure alignment of concepts with:
Client vision and expectations
Project budget and constraints
Commercial and market feasibility
Act as the key design representative during early client engagements
3. Concept Development & Deliverables
Oversee the development of:
Concept master plans (where applicable)
Massing studies and zoning strategies
Area statements and stacking plans
Preliminary layouts and concept reports
3D concepts visualizations and renderings (e.g. 3ds Max SketchUp)
Lead client presentations and design storytelling at concept stage
Coordinate with authorities for early-stage planning approvals
Ensure smooth coordination with the Detailed Design team during initial phases
4. Team Leadership & Management
Lead mentor and develop the concept design team
Allocate resources effectively across multiple projects
Conduct performance reviews and ensure QA/QC of concept outputs
Foster a culture of creativity innovation and accountability
Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Architecture () or equivalent
Masters Degree in Architecture / Urban Design / Planning is preferred
Professional registration or accreditation (preferred)
Minimum 1215 years of experience in architectural design with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on concept design
Required Skills:
Strong design leadership and creative vision Expertise in concept development massing and spatial planning Excellent understanding of real estate market trends and project positioning Strong commercial awareness and feasibility understanding Advanced presentation and client-facing skills Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD SketchUp 3ds Max Revit and Adobe Creative Suite Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects Strong decision-making and design governance capabilities Knowledge of local authority regulations and approval processes (preferably in Doha / Qatar) Effective communication coordination and stakeholder management skills
