**Associate - Project Controls**
**Position Overview**
The Associate - Project Controls will be responsible for strategically managing and delivering comprehensive project and program controls for assigned accounts. This role requires expert execution of advanced project controls functions including strategic budget management sophisticated cost forecasting and performance monitoring to ensure accurate business and project status reporting while driving organizational best practices and mentoring junior team members.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Strategically manage and deliver project and program controls across complex portfolios addressing budget and forecast costs to capture accurate business and project status with enterprise-wide visibility
- Lead and mentor project delivery teams across all aspects of project controls and program management establishing best practices and driving continuous improvement
- Champion and implement PMO best practices in accordance with industry standards and company procedures influencing organizational processes and procedures
- Leverage cornerstone systems and cost data formats to effectively control and monitor project performance optimizing system utilization across the organization
- Conduct advanced analysis of financial data and project metrics to identify critical issues emerging trends and strategic opportunities impacting project success
- Develop and maintain sophisticated cost forecasts variance analysis and expenditure projections for assigned accounts providing strategic insights to senior leadership
- Execute earned value management monitoring and performance measurement analysis at an expert level ensuring compliance with national and international standards
- Evaluate manpower labor hour and labor cost requirements against budget limitations and prepare comprehensive variance analysis with strategic recommendations
- Review and approve contractor invoices and purchase order commitments in accordance with authorization protocols exercising independent judgment on complex financial matters
- Maintain and optimize tracking databases to ensure subcontractor funding aligns with work authorization and actual expenditures identifying process improvements
- Develop and establish cost and schedule baseline budgets incorporating lessons learned and industry best practices
- Lead scope control and change management processes tracking change order status and communicating strategic updates to project leadership and stakeholders
- Prepare comprehensive project reports at various levels and facilitate project cost review meetings presenting complex data to executive audiences
- Provide strategic guidance and mentoring to junior staff on project controls procedures professional development and career advancement
- Track and manage action items to ensure project management maintains awareness of detailed project status and emerging risks
- Lead procedure development and implementation initiatives to enhance project controls efficiency compliance and organizational capability
Qualifications :
To be considered for the Associate - Project Controls position candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from a recognized and accredited university with 15 or more years of progressive experience in project controls cost management or program management
- Advanced project controls or management qualification (PMP DBIA APMG Planning and Controls Prince2 RICS APM MICE CIOB) with demonstrated expertise in the field
- Extensive experience implementing and managing Earned Value Management (EVM) based project control systems in accordance with relevant national and international standards across multiple large-scale projects
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 MS Project and other advanced planning software; demonstrated expertise with PowerBI and data visualization tools
- Deep understanding of financial terminology accounting principles financial impact analysis and strategic cost forecasting methodologies
- Advanced practical ability to apply critical project management concepts including EVM project planning risk analysis configuration management and integrated change control
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering and construction management principles with experience across multiple disciplines and sectors
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record of identifying and resolving complex project control challenges
- Expert-level proficiency in critical path analysis cost/schedule integration and performance measurement analysis
- Excellent communication and executive-level reporting skills with the ability to present complex data clearly to senior stakeholders and leadership
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams senior management and external stakeholders
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities with experience developing and coaching project controls professionals
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence project controls processes procedures and best practices at an organizational level
- Flexibility to travel and work across different sectors geographies and complex project environments
- Mastery of current methodologies and tools related to managing large-scale programs and projects
