Your mission

A MEAL Assistant Volunteer (Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning) supports the MEAL team by carrying out basic MEAL-related support tasks under supervision including data collection support data entry field monitoring assistance and support to accountability activities. The role contributes to programme implementation while working closely with the MEAL team.

Major Responsibilities:

Support MEAL staff in the implementation of MEAL tools and activities
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data through surveys FGDs KIIs and field monitoring visits.
  • Ensure data is collected accurately on time ethically and in line with WCA standards.
  • Perform data entry cleaning validation and database updates using Excel Kobo Toolbox or similar platforms.

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Assist in baseline midline and endline assessments and evaluations.
  • Support data analysis and interpretation for decision-making.
  • Support preparation of internal updates under guidance of the MEAL team
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date MEAL documentation and evidence files.

Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP)

  • Support the implementation and management of feedback and complaints mechanisms.
  • Awareness session on accountability to the beneficiaries
  • Collect feedback from the beneficiary through surveys
  • Log track and support analysis of community feedback and complaints.
  • Promote community participation and ensure beneficiary voices inform program improvement.

Learning & Knowledge Management

  • Support lessons-learned sessions reflection workshops and learning reviews.
  • Document best practices key challenges and field insights.
  • Share MEAL findings with the MEAL team to support adaptive programming and evidence-based learning.

Coordination & Compliance

  • Coordinate MEAL activities with program and field teams.
  • Support capacity building on MEAL tools and data collection processes.
  • Support in ensuring MEAL activities meet donor requirements and organizational standards including data protection and reporting compliance.

Other:

  • Assist in other tasks as required by the MEAL Officer and MEAL Team including extensive support to all programmes/sectors and other areas whenever deemed necessary

Key Working Relationships:

The role requires close collaboration with MEAL and programme teams training field staff and volunteers and ensuring beneficiary feedback informs programme improvement through ethical and accurate data practices.

Position in the organization:

The MEAL Assistant Volunteer collaborates with the MEAL team on monitoring tools indicators data quality and reporting. They coordinate with programme and field teams to track activities and integrate findings into programme improvements. The role includes supporting training field staff and volunteers on data collection and accountability processes while engaging with affected communities to manage feedback and complaints. They also liaise with partners and local stakeholders for joint monitoring and support compliance through accurate and timely MEAL documentation and reporting.


Your profile
  • Bachelors Degree in social sciences humanitarian and/or development studies Statistics Management Information System Business Administration or any relevant field
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in MEAL within the humanitarian field
  • Proficiency in Arabic both written and verbal and working knowledge in English both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools including Kobo
  • Good level of proficiency in Word PPT and Windows Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening skills
  • Ability to work with people from various groups and backgrounds
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to specific needs of the most vulnerable populations
